We are pleased to invite you to this year’s Friends of Newport Lakes AGM to be held at Outlets – Newport at 7:00pm on Tuesday October 15, 2024. Outlets – Newport is located at 43 Mason Street, Newport 3015.
Only current financial members are able to nominate and vote at the AGM. We will have a couple of vacancies on the FoNL committee for this year and encourage all interested members to apply. This is a great chance to take the next step in supporting the ongoing well-being of our little oasis in the suburbs and if you have a few hours free each month, we want to hear from you! Should you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch: [email protected].
Our guest speaker is local photographer Andrew Thornton who will be sharing some interesting insights on local flora and fauna:
“Andrew is originally from the north east of Victoria (Mt Beauty), Andrew moved to Melbourne in the late 1970s to find work in the financial services sector.
Now retired, he has lived in Williamstown for the last 25 years and has a keen interest in endemic flora and fauna, particularly native saltmarsh and grasslands. His other interests include photography, birding, astronomy, boating and voluntary conservation work.
Andrew is also active with the Friends of the Williamstown Wetlands, Friends of the Lower Kororoit Creek and he does some informal volunteering with other friends group in the LGA. It’s not unusual to find him with binoculars and camera wandering around the parks and coastal areas of Hobsons Bay.”
