Near the car park entrance, a new project has taken root. Thanks to Exxon Mobil’s support and the diligent efforts of our FoNL treasurer, Greg, we now have a wicking bed.
This innovative feature showcases wildflowers like those planted in the north-east corner. Educational signs will accompany the display, enlightening visitors about these resilient native plants. As always, our green companions were sourced from Newport Lakes Native Nursery.

Inside the wicking bed:
The waterproof lining holds a large reservoir of water at the bottom. The water is drawn upwards like a wick via osmosis and thus becomes available to the plants. Basically it works like a self-watering pot!
